BRUNSWICK — Angela Mary (Grilli) Caruso, resident of Brunswick, formerly of Everett MA, passed away peacefully on January 8th. She was the wife of the late Joseph S. Caruso. A long-time resident of Everett, Angela was born in East Boston on March 21st, 1915, the beloved daughter of the late Joseph G. and Mary (Libretti) Grilli. She was raised in Everett and a graduate of Everett High School, Class of 1933.

She was afflicted with Infantile Paralysis (polio) at 18 months and is one of the original survivors of electric shock treatment which proved to be successful for her. Told that she would always have difficulties walking, dancing, etc, she defied all odds not only walking and dancing but doing extensive travels and even white water rafting and hot air ballooning in her 80s and 90’s. She graduated with an Associates’ degree from Salem State College. During her career she run her own sewing busing, specializing in invisible mending and also retired from the Post Office where she sorted mail for many years and established and directed the Boston Post Office Choir. Angela was a devoted mother, loving grandmother, and proud greatgrandmother (BisNonna).

A deeply devout Roman Catholic, Angela was one of the original parishioner when St. Anthony’s Church on Oakes St, Everett opened in 1951 and sang, directed and played the organ in the Church Choir for many years.

She is survived by her two children, Virginia M Caruso of Brunswick and John J Caruso and his wife, Virginia (Penny) of Ocoee, FL; two grandchildren, John J Caruso (Jr) of Chicago and Christy (Caruso) Williams of East Brunswick, NJ; and three great grandchildren, Ethan Murdock, Catlyn Celeste and Ronan Salvatore Williams; her brother, Joseph M. Grilli and his wife Jennie of NH, and the late Marion Stoodley and Louisa Grilli; and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 5-8 PM on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, January 11, 2013 in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 132 McKeen Street, Brunswick. There will also be a viewing at Salvatore Rocco & Sons Funeral Home, 331 Main St., Everett, MA on Friday, January 11, 2013 from 6-9 PM, complimentary valet parking Friday at the Main St. entrance. On Saturday, January 12, 2013 there is a Funeral Mass at St. Anthony Church, Everett, at 10 AM followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
