LISBON FALLS — Coming into Monday’s Mountain Valley Conference high school girls basketball contest, Lisbon was mired in a sevengame losing skid.

A 38-26 Greyhounds victory over Winthrop (1-9) ended the streak, with Wiscasset (riding a seven-game slump of its own) slated to visit on Wednesday (7 p.m.).

“It was certainly a low-scoring first half, but we were able to wake up,” said Lisbon (3-7) coach Julie Wescott after her team held the Ramblers to just seven first-half points in building a 15-7 halftime lead.

Denise Thomas led the Greyhounds with 12 points, while Mia Durgin chipped in 10.

For Winthrop, Cat Ouellette finished with a game-high 14 points.

WISCASSET 25

HALL- DALE 44

The Wolverines were held to nine points through three quarters in dropping to 2-8 in MVC play at Farmingdale.

Hall-Dale (4-6) posted quarterly leads of 13-5, 27-7 and 36- 9.

Natasha Brown led the balanced Bulldogs attack with 11 points, with Allison Crockett adding seven points and 15 rebounds, and five points each coming from Nicole Pelletier and Eva Shepherd. In all, 11 Hall-Dale players scored.

“Hall-Dale created a lot of turnovers early on,” said Wiscasset coach Patrick Quinn.

Briana Goud paced Wiscasset (2-8) with 11 points. Kasey Cromwell chipped in six points and five assists.

The free-throw line was the difference as Skowhegan picked up a Kennebec Valley Atheltic Conference win against the 2-9 Dragons.

The Indians (6-5) held a 23- 11 scoring advantage at the line to turn a 14-point secondquarter deficit into a comefrom behind win.

Brunswick led 18-12 and 33- 26 at the first two quarter breaks, but Skowhegan stormed back, outscoring the Dragons 15-4 in the third quarter for a 41-37 lead.

Lyse Henshaw was hot for Brunswick, scoring a careerhigh 29 points, including five 3-pointers (also a careerhigh), and pulling down five rebounds. Julia Champagne had six points and a like number of caroms, Anna Dimick six steals and Erica French five points. Brunswick finished 11 of 21 from the foul line.

Morgan Buker paced Skowhegan with 22 points, with Taylor Johnson adding seven. The Indians were 23 of 35 at the charity stripe.

Girls hockey

Taylor Landry scored four goals as part of a six-point night as Leavitt/Edward Little rolled to a 9-1 Eastern win over Brunswick at Sidney J. Watson Arena.

Rachel Moroney scored the lone goal for the Dragons, who have dropped three straight to fall to 4-9. Claire Mendes had 33 saves, with the Red Hornets (11-3) holding a 42-12 shots advantage.

Landry added two assists, while Amanda Grenier, Danica Nadeau, Sydney Nadeau, Paige Landry and Amanda Williams each added a goal.

Brunswick meets Mt. Ararat on Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. at Watson Arena.
