BRUNSWICK — The Bowdoin College women’s squash team dropped a 7-2 decision to 19th-ranked Amherst in a New England Small College Athletic Conference match Wednesday at the Lubin Family Squash Center.
The Polar Bears, ranked 20th in the latest College Squash Association poll, fell to 1-6.
Rachel Barnes took a convincing 3-0 win (12-10, 11-8, 11- 6) for the Polar Bears at No. 2 while Bonnie Cao rallied twice to take a 3-2 win (11-13, 11-3, 11-5, 4-11, 11-8) at No. 7.
Two other Bowdoin players lost hard-fought matches, including Torey Lee (3-2 loss) at No. 1) and Michaela Martin (3-2 loss at No. 5).
The Polar Bears are scheduled to return to action this weekend with five matches in Connecticut. Bowdoin will play at Wesleyan today (5:00 p.m.) before traveling to Yale for two matches each on Saturday and Sunday.
