HARTFORD, Conn. — Senior Logan Russell of Bath earned a pair of victories to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a split in a pair of dual matches at the Trinity College Bantams Tri-Meet Wednesday evening.

Southern Maine defeated hosts Trinity 30-16 in its opening match and fell to the United States Coast Guard Academy Bears, 36-18.

With the split Southern Maine’s dual meet record stands at 10-4.

Wrestling at 157-pounds, Russell took a 3-0 decision over Trinity junior Evan Robinson. Against the Coast Guard, Russell earned his team-leading 10th pin of the season, putting Bears’ freshman Holden Takahashito to the mat in 2:37. With the pair of wins, Russell improved to 18-6 overall and 11- 2 in dual meets

Senior Peter Gilman also had two wins on the day, including a win by forfeit against the Coast Guard.

Southern Maine returns to action on Sunday (10 a.m.) at the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Duals. The NEWA Duals will be hosted by Johnson & Wales University.
