The Maine Department of Marine Resources will hold a public listening session with shrimp trappers from 10 a.m. to noon on Feb. 1, at the Lincoln County Communications Center to discuss additional effort control measures for the 2013 season.

With only roughly 150,000 pounds allocated to the trap fishery, department officials have determined that additional measures beyond those already established are needed to avoid overrunning the quota while allowing a profitable fishery. The meeting will provide shrimp trappers the opportunity to review and provide input into the measures that will be implemented by the DMR prior to the Feb. 5 trap season start date.
