JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Douglas “Doug” Raymond Jordan, 72, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away Thursday, January 24th, 2013 at home.

He was born to the late William and Kathryn Jordan, March 29, 1940, in Milo, Maine. Doug attended Bangor schools then joined the US Navy. He then married Colleen Landry Jordan. They were long time residents of Bath, Me., before relocating to Jacksonville, Fla. in 1992.

Doug was an accomplished welder and ship fitter, helping to build and maintain US Navy warships with Bath Iron Works, Bath Me., Atlantic Marine and Braswell, Jacksonville Fla., until he retired in 2007. He then enjoyed success as a selfemployed home-improvement contractor. He enjoyed working with his hands and in spare time became an accomplished woodworker.

Doug was passionate about supporting his local community. He regularly volunteered his time to enhance the lives of disabled veterans and was an active member of the American Legion having served as the State Commander for the Sons of the American Legion as well as many positions at his local post. He was also a member of the Kiwanis and Eagle’s Clubs. In addition, he volunteered his time coaching local swim teams and running canoe camps in Bath, Me.

Douglas is survived by his wife Colleen Jordan of Malvern, Pa., three children: Tammy McGee and her husband Mark of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., Debra Palmer of Bath, Me., and Douglas Jordan Jr. of Downingtown, Pa. He was predeceased by his son Billy Jay Jordan in November 2010. Doug is survived by eleven grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. Doug was predeceased by his brother William E. Jordan. He is survived by two sisters Bernice (Tony) MacDonald of Clinton, Me., Kathleen (Danny) Fowler of Bangor, Me., and a brother Galen Jordan of Windham, Me. as well as many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in support of your local community hospice.

In keeping with his wishes, Douglas’s remains are to be cremated and transported to Maine for a private burial. The date of burial is to be announced.
