To the Editor:
The next gubernatorial election is two years away, and it’s way too early to speculate who the Democratic nominee will be.
But we do know that Maine can’t afford another failed chief executive, and it can’t afford any further retrenching into the unworkable conservative policies we’ve had to live with for the last two years. Instead, we will work for better ideas that result in policies that will benefit Mainers, ideas that Paul LePage and Eliot Cutler, assuming they run in 2014, can’t provide.
We’ve had enough of the bombast, bullying and belligerence coming out of our governor’s office. It’s time for a chief executive who will offer a plan to strengthen our economy and grow our middle class.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
