GORHAM — Senior guard Ryan Martin scored a teamhigh 18 points to lead six players in double-figures as the Keene State College Owls defeated the University of Southern Maine Huskies 88- 80 in a Little East Conference men’s basketball tilt Saturday afternoon at Hill Gymnasium.
With the win the Owls avenged a 90-83 loss to the Huskies earlier in the season and improved to 14-7 overall and 7-3 in the conference. Southern Maine fell to 13-8 and 7-3 in the LEC and is tied with Keene for third place in the conference.
USM senior guard Alex Kee of Bath and junior guard Conor Sullivan each scored 20 points to lead the Huskies. Kee was eight-for-14.
A jumper from Kee cut the Huskies’ deficit to three, 59- 56, but an 8-2 run from the Owls, led by six points from Martin, gave Keene State its largest lead of the game 67-58 with 12:44 to play.
USM travels to UMass Boston tonight at 7:30 p.m.
