YARMOUTH — North Yarmouth Academy will present “The Sound of Music” Thursday, Feb. 14, through Sunday, Feb. 17.

One of the most popular musicals of all time, “The Sound of Music” is written by Howard Lindsay and Russell Crouse, with music by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein. The show is set in 1940s Austria, and is based on the true story of the Trapp Family Singers.

The show is directed by Nora Krainis with assistance from Patia Maule and piano accompaniment by Janelle Powers.

There are 45 cast members and three student crew members in the production, allowing for almost two complete casts of principals — indicated as “Black” and “Orange.”

Show times are Thursday, Feb. 14, at 6:30 p.m. (Black); Friday, Feb. 15, 7 p.m. (Orange); Saturday, Feb. 16, 2 p.m. (Orange) and 7 p.m. (Black); and Sunday, Feb. 17, 2 p.m. (Black) and 7 p.m. (Orange).
