KENTS HILL — Matt Brooks tipped a Kyle Woodruff shot three minutes into overtime to lift the Brunswick High School boys hockey team to a 3-2 Eastern A victory at Rist and Joy Bonnefond Ice Arena on Wednesday.
Tyler Sullivan gave the Dragons (8-6-1 and slated to visit Skowhegan on Monday) a 1-0 lead in the first period on the power play. Dan Condon answered with 22 seconds remaining in the frame to tie it, but Brunswick jumped ahead by a goal at 5:57 of the second period when Dwayne Palmer scored off a Cam Heatley setup.
A late goal, this one with two seconds remaining in the second by Peter Prescott, tied the game.
“We have to be a stiffer team at the end of periods,” said Brunswick coach Mike Routhier, who was pleased with his team’s effort in the third period. “We played a good third period. In the past, we might have hung our heads after a late goal and lost 5-2. Instead, they refocused and were solid the rest of the way.”
Clay Parent and Brooks each picked up an assist, while Brunswick goaltender Blake Alexander had 23 saves.
Maranacook/Hall- Dale/Winthrop (8-5-2) netminder Tyler Plante had 32 saves.
