LITCHFIELD — Robert T. McClure Sr., age 86, of South Adams Road died Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at the Mid Coast Senior Health Center.

He was born in Malden, MA on April 1, 1926 the son of Alan and Nellie Brennan McClure. He attended Massachusetts schools. During WWII he served in the Army in the European Theater. Robert then worked at the Boston Shipyard.

On October 29, 1948 he married Ethel L. Davidson. She died August 24, 2006.

In the early 50’s they moved to Durham, Maine and for 32 years Robert worked as a firefighter at the Brunswick Naval Air Station. Robert then worked as a janitor for the Durham School until retiring when he was 73 in 1999. The staff at the school truly enjoyed working with Bob.

For several years Robert operated a stove and patio shop in Durham.

Robert enjoyed reading, fishing, hunting and was a Civil War buff.

Robert was known as the “Brunswick Burger King Greeter” or as he referred to it as a “Whopper Burger.”

Surviving is a son Robert T. McClure Jr. and his wife Becky of Durham. Two daughters, Donna Miller and her husband Sam of Durham and Lorri Richard and her husband Marcel of Litchfield. A brother Eddie McClure of Somerville, MA and two sister in-laws Sis McClure of Northport, ME and Anna McClure of St. Petersburg, FL. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, February 17th from 2-5PM at Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick, ME 04011. A funeral service with military honors will be held 11 am Monday, February 18th at the funeral home with the Rev. Gordon Cook officiating. A reception will follow at the Stetson’s Funeral Home Reception Center. Interment service will be Tuesday, February 19th at 1 PM in the chapel of the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta.
