CoWorx Staffing Services was named to Inavero’s 2013 Best of Staffing Client list of award winners.

Presented in partnership with CareerBuilder, the list identifies CoWorx Staffing Services as one of the best staffing agencies for companies to call when they are looking to hire temporary or permanent employees, according to a news release.

The firm received satisfaction ratings of 9 or 10 out of 10 from 67.1 percent of their clients, significantly higher than the industry’s average.

Employees in its Saco office are Amy Whipple, Ellen Rizeakos, Leanne Payeur and Elizabeth Russell.

Benjamin Grant, an attorney at McTeague Higbee, is now practicing workers’ compensation law under the State Workers’ Compensation and Federal Longshore Acts in central and midcoast Maine.

Grant has been recognized by his peers as a Super Lawyers Rising Star of New England for the last two years.

Prior to joining McTeague Higbee in 2008, he worked in state government and electoral politics as an aide to state Senate presidents Beth Edmonds and Beverly Daggett. He is chair of the Maine Democratic Party.

Fisher & Phillips LLP, a national labor and employment law firm with offices in Portland and Boston, announced it has opened an office in Columbus, Ohio. Columbus is the firm’s 28th office.

Bridges Home Care opened a second office in Waterville at 58 Elm St. Bridges is a division of Spectrum Generations, Central Maine’s Area Agency on Aging and Aging and Disability Resource Center. Bridges Home Care offers care at home for elderly and disabled adults.

Charlie Hahn was named vice president and chief financial officer of Dead River Company. Hahn, of Falmouth, was previously managing principal at Baker Newman Noyes.

Kevin J. Haskins joined Preti Flaherty as an associate. Haskins will practice labor and employment law from the firm’s Portland office. Haskins, of South Portland, most recently practiced employment, environmental and intellectual property law with Pierce Atwood. He also served as a clerk to Justice Jon D. Levy of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court.

Gary Lowell, Jeremy Hutchinson, Becca Campbell and Douglas Cuffman joined Winxnet, a Portland-based IT solutions provider,

Lowell was hired as a technical support specialist. Most recently, he worked as a network administrator for the Sanford Public School system.

Hutchinson was hired as an application and SharePoint developer. He was previously the lead software developer at Ability Resources.

Campbell joined the company as an administrative assistant. Most recently, she worked as a production assistant on the 2012 tour of singer-songwriter James Taylor.

Cuffman was hired as a senior information architect. Most recently, he worked as an information architect at L.L.Bean.

Melodie Brown was hired at Reliant Mortgage Company, LLC as a senior loan partner with The Hamlin Team. Brown was recently employed as a Realtor in Greater Portland. She is a former owner and general manager of First Financial Mortgage Corp. of Portland.

Anne Stephenson joined Efficiency Maine as a communications specialist. Stephenson most recently worked as an energy efficiency communications and education consultant.

David Ghiorse, a physician assistant, was hired by Martin’s Point Health Care to join the cardiology team at its Portland Health Care Center. Ghiorse has been in practice for more than seven years. Most recently, he worked for Atwood Medical Associates in Johnston, R.I.

Melik Peter Khoury was named senior vice president for external affairs at Unity College. Khoury has extensive experience in higher education, most recently serving as senior vice president for strategic positioning at Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa.

Shannon Kashinsky was promoted to vice president of human resources at PeoplesChoice Credit Union. Kashinsky joined PeoplesChoice two years ago and is credited with helping the credit union achieve first place in the 2012 Best Places to Work in Maine.

Ryan Nadeau, an assistant vice president at TD Bank, was promoted to manager of its branch at 835 Main St. in Westbrook. Nadeau, of Westbrook, joined TD Bank in 2004 and has nine years of retail banking experience. He most recently served as assistant manager at its Market Street store in South Portland.

BOARD APPOINTMENTS

Stephen J. Schwartz of Schwartz & Schwartz, PA, in Portland, was appointed by the Maine Supreme Judicial Court to a second three-year term on the Board of Overseers of the Bar. Schwartz was also recognized by his peers in Best Lawyers in America for 2013 for the third consecutive year. He practices criminal and traffic defense, personal injury, and wills and probate law.

Christine Bosse and Chris Gagnon joined the board of directors for Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice.

Bosse, of Sabattus, is vice president of retail management at Bangor Savings Banks.

Gagnon, of Windham, is a financial adviser for Gooley, Nisbet, Henchel & Gagnon, Ameriprise Financial Services Inc.
