Friday, March 15: A recreation of the Price Is Right game show is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. at the Windham High School auditorium. Doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance or at the door. The show will raise money for class items, a senior breakfast, graduation items and prom. Saturday, March 16: The Outing Club, BusSim class and other clubs at Windham High School present the Winter Carnival 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Moon bounce, food concessions, baked goods, rock climbing, face painting and more.

March 16: Ernie Mitchell, a member of Windham Historical Society, will present a program about metal detecting at 9 a.m. at Windham Public Library. With more than 40 years of experience, Mitchell has discovered many relics and artifacts on land and in the sea. He has hunted from Maine to Florida and most extensively here in New England. The program is open to the public and refreshments will be available following the program. The Society will hold a membership meeting following the event. Come learn about what to look for, where to look and what surprises you might discover. There is no charge for the event. Donations are always welcome to further the work of the society, a nonprofit organization.

Thursday, March 21: Al Lamanda, author of “Sunset,” an Edgar Award-nominated mystery, will speak at the North Gorham Public Library on Thursday, March 21, at 7 p.m. A resident of Gray and a retired private detective, Lamanda has written six novels including the sequel “Sunrise,” due out this summer. March 23: A large indoor yard sale and bake sale takes place at the Standish Congregational Church on Oak Hill Road from 9 a.m. to noon. Proceeds benefit the church and its youth group. For more information, call 642-2503.

Thursday, March 28: Windham High School’s Project Graduation 2013 is holding its third annual Dancing with the Staff event this March. Ten couples, all of which work in Windham-Raymond schools, take to the stage to entertain what is always a packed house. Each audience member gets a chance to vote for their favorite couples and on the final night of competition a dancing king and queen are awarded the trophy of fame. The first night of competition was held March 14. The final night is March 28 at 7 p.m. at the Windham High School auditorium.

Saturday, March 30: Portland School of Ballet presents “Around the World with Flat Stanley” at 11 a.m. at the Westbrook Performing Arts Center. Several students from the Lakes Region are performing.

Saturday, March 30: Southern Maine Gearbots hosts its second annual District Meet 9-11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s College’s Harold Alfond Center in Standish. Students from Windham, Saco, Portland and Limington in kindergarten through eighth-grade will present their designs created using Legos and robotics. Computer software is used to control the robotics. There will also be guest displays including a Lego Space Shuttle Enterprise and Lego Electronic Tuna. Tuesday, April 30: The University of Maine Cooperative Extension in Cumberland County offers a certified Farm Tractor Safety Course scheduled for five consecutive Tuesday evenings beginning April 30. Course takes place at the Maine Forest Service Building in Gray on Route 26. There is a $15 fee to participate. Individuals will receive practical training in the classroom, a shop session, as well as an opportunity to be on the tractor seat operating a farm tractor. This course is suitable for youth and adults. Individuals must be at least 13 years of age to participate. For more information, or to register, call the Extension Office at 781-6099. July 20: Windham High School Class of 1973 holds its 40th Reunion upstairs at Rustler’s Steak House in Windham from 6 p.m. on. There will be a menu to order food from that night, so no advance reservation or admission fee is required. Come celebrate! • The National Alliance on Mental Illness welcomes any family members or friends who find themselves needing support for dealing with someone challenged with a mental illness.
