BANGOR (AP) — A jury has started deliberating the case of a Maine man charged with using a crowbar to fatally beat a construction company owner in a property dispute.
Attorneys in the murder trial of 50-year-old Peter Robinson of Bradford made their closing statements Monday before jurors in Penobscot County Superior Court in Bangor started weighing the evidence.
Deliberations are expected to continue today.
Authorities say Robinson and 71-year-old David Trask of Hudson had a history of disputes over access issues regarding land owned by Robinson.
According to court documents, in November 2011, Trask came at Robinson with a crowbar, but Robinson grabbed the metal bar and beat Trask to death, striking him three times across the face and chest.
Robinson’s attorney said in court his client acted in selfdefense.
