BATH — On Tuesday, April 9, at 4:30 p.m. the Patten Free Library will host the third in a series of self-publishing workshops, “Self-Publishing Using Adobe InDesign.”

Deb Merrill, a graphic designer and InDesign expert from Brunswick, will be the presenter. The free program is open to the public. No preregistration is required.

InDesign is an Adobe product that allows aspiring writers and self-publishers to create their own text and photo books for commercial printing or for distribution online. Merrill has worked as an independent graphic designer for moer than 20 years, and has been teaching digital/graphic arts and communication design since 1997, most recently at the University of Southern Maine and the Maine College of Art. In this presentation, she will demonstrate how to use InDesign effectively in self-publishing using seven basic principles of graphic design.

“We are fortunate and grateful that Ms. Merrill has volunteered to share her expertise with our patrons,” says Roberta Jordan, the librarian who is organizing the event, “This series of talks on self-publishing has been very well-attended, and has helped us reach out to a new group of patrons and community members.”
