Diane (Raschevich) Steers was called to the LORD on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, in the presence of her family after enduring a long period of illness following a stroke .
She was born in Passiac, NJ, Oct. 10, 1947, to John and Mary Raschevich and soon after the family moved to Lacawack Hill in Napanoch, NY. She graduated from Tri Valley High School in Grahamsville, NY. Diane obtained her Licensed Practical Nurse degree and was employed by Ellenville Hospital where she met her future lifemate Ben. After a brief courtship the pair were united in a Catholic ceremony in Kerhonkson, NY. Not long after the couple was married they moved to Brunswick, Maine, where her husband was in the Navy, Diane fell in love with the area and was home. She assumed the role of Navy wife and experienced the hardships of separation and moving.
Diane was employed at Brunswick Manor when it was in the old hospital. She was a charge nurse there and Dionne Commons during her working life. She was well respected in her field of geriatrics.
Diane leaves her husband Ben, a son Ben, both of Topsham, her daughter Janet Freitas of Billerica, Mass., and her grandchildren Xavier, Delaney, Maddox and Brody, a sister Eileen and a brother William in NY.
A good woman, a good wife and a Great Mother. She will be remembered as having a most unusual sense of humor.
