Kousky is a 2011 graduate of Brunswick High School and is currently a sophomore at West Virginia University, majoring in civil engineering.
National Guard Pvt. Samuel S. Newton has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
He is the son of Carol and Donald Newton of South Paris and brother of Aaron Newton of Lisbon. He is a 1999 graduate of Casco Learning Center.
During the nine weeks of training, he studied the Army mission and history, tradition and military justice, and learned basic combat skills, chemical warfare, first aid and field training exercises, among other skills.
