AUBURN — Mallory Nelson knocked in two runs with a double to highlight a four-run third inning uprising as the Mt. Ararat High School softball team earned its first win (1-2) with a 4-2 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference victory over Edward Little on Monday.

Kennedy Hubbard doubled and scored to give Edward Little (1-2) a 1-0 lead. But, a pair of errors and a single by Taylor Pare loaded the bases in the third before Nelson’s double gave the Eagles a 2-1 lead.

Pare and Nelson later scored on the third Red Eddies error of the inning for a 4-1 lead.

Pare had two singles, Micaela Mitchell singled, and Nelson and Devon Hutchins each doubled for the Eagles, who host Erskine Academy on Wednesday (4 p.m.).

Kim Leslie tossed a three-hitter for the win, with two strikeouts and no walks.

Emily Schario took the loss for EL, scattering five hits.

BRUNSWICK 2

The Vikings put together an eight-run inning to pull away from host Brunswick in KVAC play.

The Vikings improved to 3-0, while the Dragons dipped to 0-3 and are scheduled to visit Cony on Wednesday.

The Dragons did pick up their first two hits of the season, as Rachel Moroney and Jena Libby each singled, while Olivia Salvail and Maddie Wilkes each scored a run.

On the mound, Wilkes started and allowed 10 walks, while KK Teel relieved and didn’t walk a hitter. Moroney played well at shortstop, while right fielder Leah Andreotti made a nice running catch.

Abby Bernier (3-for-4, double, two singles), Annika Kalhonen (two triples) and Anna Winslow (2-for-2, single, double) led Oxford Hills, while Viking pitchers Crystal West and Haleigh Robinson combined on eight strikeouts and two walks.

MED. VALLEY 10

MORSE 1

In KVAC Class B action Monday, the host Shipbuilders fell to 0-3 and are scheduled to visit Oceanside on Wednesday.

The Panthers outhit Morse 12-5 and scored four runs in the first and three in the fifth.

Jacelyn McNeill had seven strikeouts and six walks in the loss, while Medomak Valley’s Desiree Benner fanned 13 and walked two.

In the Medomak offense, Amanda Nickerson had a double and single, and Maria Ennamorati, Abby McQuire and Lauren Guptil two singles each.

For Morse, Niesa Ryder had two singles and McNeill, Megan Hixon and Morgan Cram a single each.

“Morse played much better defense then the first two games of the season,” said coach Will Laffely. “We need to focus on putting the ball in play and keeping the walks down in number. Clutch hitting with people in scoring position is also a key.”

Jessica Dirago kept the host Wolverines (0-2) off balance, tossing a two-hitter in a Mountain Valley Conference win for the Rebels (1-0).

Dirago struck out 12, and belted two doubles with three RBIs to pace the offense.

Kayla Gordon had both hits for Wiscasset, and Megan Corson took the mound loss.

Wiscasset visits Mountain Valley on Wednesday (4:30 p.m.).
