The body of a Maryland man who family members thought may be headed for Maine was found only miles from where he had been reported missing.
According to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland, 69-year-old Timothy Fowler’s body was found Sunday in the community of Bladensburg — about 10 miles from Largo, Md., where he walked away from an adult day care center on April 8.
The medical examiner determined Fowler died of natural causes.
Fowler, who suffered from Alzheimer’s, was born and raised in Portland and at one time worked at the Brunswick Naval Air Station.
Police and family said he talked often about returning to the state.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
