AUGUSTA — The University of Maine at Augusta and Maine Instrument Flight will hold an “open hangar” community event 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, May 31, at Maine Instrument Flight, located at the Augusta State Airport.

The event is being held to celebrate the launch of UMA’s new bachelor of science degree in aviation, and provide an opportunity for prospective students to meet with officials to talk about the program.

UMA says the program is Maine’s first where students can simultaneously earn a pilot’s license and a college degree.
