BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College baseball senior Oliver Van Zant has been named a District I First-Team Academic All-American by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
Van Zant, who will be a three-time Academic All- NESCAC honoree, is an economics major.
His 267 career strikeouts are 80 more than any other pitcher in school history, and he finishes his career with a 16-9 record and 2.65 ERA.
He enjoyed an exceptional senior campaign, allowing just seven earned runs in eight starts, striking out 57 batters over 53 innings while walking just nine. In addition, on April 13 against Colby he pitched just the second no-hitter in the 144-year history of Bowdoin baseball.
