YARMOUTH — Nick Cartmell knocked in the go-ahead run with a seventh-inning single, and Brady Davis delivered a follow-up three-run double to lead Freeport High School to a 10-6 Western Maine Conference baseball win over Yarmouth on Wednesday.

The Falcons improved to 7-7 and visit Poland on Friday in make-up action.

Jack Davenport and Connor Dietrich pitched for Freeport and allowed seven hits with five strikeouts and five walks. Three Yarmouth hurlers combined on three strikeouts and two walks.

In the 15-hit Freeport offense, Davis had two doubles and five RBIs, Dietrich a double and two singles, Cartmell a double, two singles and three runs scored, and Dan Burke two singles and three runs.

Caleb Uhl had two singles, and Matt Highland a single and double for Yarmouth.

The game was tied at 6-6 before Freeport scored the four runs in the top of the seventh.

In Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, Brunswick dipped to 4-11 and is scheduled to close out the regular season Friday at rival Mt. Ararat.

Brunswick outhit Lewiston 6-3 and Lewiston committed two errors to Brunswick’s one, but Lewiston (9-5) had the key hit of the game as two runners (on base via walks) scored on a Nick Perreault double to left field.

Brady Larson went six innings with three hits allowed, three walks and five strikeouts.

In the Dragons’ offense, Larson had two hits, Ryan Maciejewski and Ryan Brescia a hit each, John Parker a double and Derek Devereaux a hit and RBI.

Parker Wild was a defensive standout at third base.
