BRUNSWICK — The Jump Start Program, designed to increase speed, improve agility, enhance performance and prevent injuries, is scheduled to run from June 24 to Aug. 2.
Sponsored by Select Physical Therapy, Jump Start offers a morning session (8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.) and an afternoon workout (4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.) at the Brunswick High School track.
The cost is $75 for the six weeks and 18 sessions. Each participant will undergo performance testing at the beginning and end of the six weeks. Tests will include 40- yard dash, vertical leap, agility shuttle run and step time.
Certified athletic trainers will oversee each training session, and the foundation of this program is the Santa Monica PEP program, which has been shown to reduce the risk of an ACL injury by as much as 88 percent.
Workouts will be held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, depending on weather conditions.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
