BATH — Trenton Moore pitched six solid innings and faced only two batters more than the minimun as the Morse High School baseball team rolled to an 11-1 Mercy- Rule Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over Belfast on Monday.

Morse (11-3 and slated to host Nokomis today) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI double by Paul Whalen, who was 4-for-4 (two doubles) and drove in three runs.

The Shipbuilders scored four in the third on a double from Liam McDonough and a single from Ethan Winglass. Andrew LaCavera drove in the fourth run.

Morse added two more in the fourth and one in the fifth, and went into the bottom half of the sixth with an 8-1 lead. McDonough and Whalen both singled and Chris Paulus blasted a threerun homer to left to end the game in the sixth.

DIRIGO 7

Host Dirigo scored three runs in the first en route to a Mountain Valley Conference win Monday over the Greyhounds, who dipped to 5-10 and close out the regular season today at Mountain Valley.

Brandon Hovey went four innings with three strikeouts and six walks, while RJ Sargent had one walk in his twoinning stint.

Gavin Arsenault twirled six innings for the win with nine strikeouts and six walks, and Justin Chartier finished up.

Lisbon’s Kyle Bourget had two singles

Spencer Trenoweth had a double and two runs scored for 14-2 Dirigo, while Brett Whittemore doubled and scored a run.

FRYEBURG 3

Ian MacFawn twirled a four-hitter with nine strikeouts and a walk to lead Fryeburg Academy to a Western Maine Conference win Monday over Freeport.

The Falcons are now 7-8 and close out the regular season Thursday at Poland.

Pete LaMagna and James Purdy took turns on the mound for the visitors with four walks and 10 strikeouts,

Connor Dietrich, Jack Davenport, Nick Cartmell and Dan Burke each singled for Freeport, which loaded the bases in the seventh but couldn’t push across a run.

MacFawn had a double in the fourth and came in on a Tanner Wentworth triple.
