BALTIMORE – The Baltimore Orioles recalled second baseman Ryan Flaherty, a former Deering High player, from Triple-A Norfolk and optioned infielder Yamaico Navarro to the same minor league club.

Flaherty was batting .133 in 30 games for the Orioles before being optioned to Norfolk on May 18. He hit .265 with two homers and five RBI in eight games with the Tides.

Navarro, a former Sea Dog, hit .286 in eight games with Baltimore.

TWINS: Minnesota activated third baseman Trevor Plouffe from the seven-day disabled list. He suffered a concussion May 21 against Atlanta.

RANGERS: Texas will have to wait longer to get back right-hander Colby Lewis and second baseman Ian Kinsler.

GM Jon Daniels said Lewis has been pulled off his rehabilitation assignment because of muscular soreness in his elbow. Kinsler has been out since May 18 with bruised ribs and hasn’t taken part in baseball activities since. Daniels said Kinsler developed a stress reaction in his ribs and has a “level of discomfort where he can’t play.”
