FREEPORT — Lena M. Hamilton, 68, died peacefully May 18 after a long illness, with family near.
Born in Portland and a lifelong resident of Maine, Hamilton graduated from Falmouth High School in 1963.
She was a realtor in the late ’70s and ’80s and spent her career in real estate-related businesses. Her interests ranged from books and reading to crewel work, quilt making and peonies. She was a devoted wife to Bruce C. Hamilton, who predeceased her. She was a mother to two sons, Brenton, and his partner, Deanna of Rockland, and Greggory, and his wife, Beth, of northern Georgia; grandmother to Cooper, Kelsey, Teylor, all of Georgia, and Chase Hamilton, of Brooklyn, N.Y. She is survived also by her brother, Gary A. Sidelinger, and his wife, Maureen, of Cumberland; her nephews, Ben and Andrew Sidelinger; a brother-in-law, William Taplin, of Portland; a nephew, Chadd Taplin, and her niece, Emilee Lacy, of North Yarmouth, as well as an aunt, Phyllis Moulton,and her son Sonny, of Portland. Her sister, Marie Taplin, predeceased her.
A time of gathering and visitation was held May 25 Lindquist Funeral Home, in Yarmouth, fowllowed by burial on Chebeague Island, next to her husband.
