BRUNSWICK — The Mt. Ararat and Brunswick baseball and softball teams got together Wednesday in their regular-season finales.

The Mt. Ararat girls prevailed 20-1, while the Brunswick boys edged the Eagles, 9-7 in eight innings.

Baseball

Brunswick improved to 5-11 and is scheduled to visit Brewer Tuesday in Eastern Maine Class A prelim action, while the Eagles closed out at 3-13.

Brett Lancaster hit a solo home run to center field in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game 6-6, and also drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth with a two-out single.

Lancaster went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, while Parker Wild added two hits and an RBI, Derek Devereaux two hits and a walk, and Brady Larson, Charlie Lowell and Ryan Brescia a hit and RBI each.

Jason Carter hurled three innings with four hits allowed, three runs, two walks and three strikeouts. John Parker went four innings and allowed one hit, three runs ( one earned), six walks and nine strikeouts. Larson had two walks and a strikeout in his inning of relief.

Brunswick received six walks and struck out six times, and Mt. Ararat received 10 walks and had 13 strikeouts.

Ryan Lathrop and Trent Charnock pitched for the Eagles. At the plate, Ellison Etnier had two singles, and Charnock and Dan Porter each doubled.

Mt. Ararat seniors are Lathrop, Gabe Pelletier, Charnock, Porter, Sam Ashouwak, Brandon Morrell, Allan Leech, Jake Liedman, Sam Coombs, John Dietlin and Reid Drouin.

The host Eagles improved to 6-10 and Brunswick dipped to 0-16. Neither team qualified for the Eastern A postseason.

Kim Leslie tossed a no-hitter with one strikeout and one walk. The lone Brunswick run came across in the fifth inning when Molly Wilkes walked, stole second and later scored on a groundball.

Devon Hutchins singled four times and drove in four runs to pace the Mt. Ararat offense. Mallory Nelson singled twice, doubled and picked up two RBIs, Taylor Pare hit a long home run and Piper Ingle singled twice as Mt. Ararat pounded out 16 hits.

Seniors Micaela Mitchell, Nelson, Pare, Emily Eldridge, Maggie Wessell, Anne McIntire and Emily Dunn suited up for the final time for Mt. Ararat, while the Brunswick seniors closing their high school careers were Rachel Moroney, Jena Libby, Kelly Bridges and Leah Andreotti.
