Bath Iron Works is hiring hundreds of new electrical workers, the shipyard’s operator said.
General Dynamics, the company that operates the Bath shipyard, said BIW is hiring more than 100 positions, mainly electricians, as a part of the building of the newest class of U.S. Navy destroyers.
Scott McDonald, a spokesman for the shipbuilder’s Local S6, said BIW has hired 142 people in the last two months..
The DDG-1000 Zumwalt is scheduled to launch this fall.
The keel for the DDG-1001, named the USS Michael Monsoor, was laid earlier this month.
