IT’S BEEN SAID that treasure can be found at the end of the rainbow. In Woolwich, people think their new Woolwich Central School campus is quite a treasure, indeed.

September 2012 was the GRAND OPENING of our incredible new Pre-K to eighth grade Woolwich Central School. Our students have the marked distinction of being the very first students to attend our new school!

Walk through our entryway doors and you are immediately greeted by an immense mural of Maine literary characters, authors and illustrators who welcome you into our Woolwich world of learning.

We are enjoying the many attributes of our school. We now have a separate gym and cafeteria which allow us to have physical education and lunch at the same time — an opportunity that Woolwich has never been able to enjoy. We have technology for our students along with an incredible library and computer center. Six of our outstanding eighthgraders have been our tour guides when parents and community members arrive desiring a tour of our new building.

This year has witnessed soccer teams playing on our new field, basketball players competing on our hardwood floor, our first year of Pre-K, a school-wide visit from U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, concerts, art nights, a “Wizard of Oz” production on the new stage, geography bees, math teams, Chewonki visitations, award assemblies, special events in our forums on each floor, our Mt. Blue trip and the grand finale – our eighth grade trip to Washington, D.C.!

What a year!
