DAMARISCOTTA — Almost Home Rescue will be featured at The Animal House on Saturday, June 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 15 Coastal Marketplace.
Volunteers from Almost Home will be present with dogs for adoption and have information on the adoption process, volunteer and foster opportunities and about their organization.
Almost Home, a nonprofit group with a base in Maine, transports dogs from “high kill” shelters, mostly in Arkansas. The dogs arrive with a current health certificate, meet state import and vaccination requirements, are wormed, microchipped and transported on an U.S.D.A. approved transport. Once in Maine, the dogs are placed with foster families.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
