The parent company of Portland TV station WGME, Channel 13, has agreed to purchase an antenna manufacturer in Raymond that had been slated for closure by its owner.

Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc., based in Hunt Valley, Md., said Tuesday that it has entered into an agreement to acquire the assets of Raymond-based Dielectric Communications from its parent company, SPX Corp.

“Dielectric will be operated as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sinclair … with a management and operational team (composed) of capable, experienced individuals drawn from the Dielectric staff,” Sinclair President and CEO David Smith said in the news release. “Dielectric will maintain operations at their present facility in Raymond.”

The new Sinclair subsidiary would be renamed Dielectric LLC, the news release said. As of April, the company had 57 employees working at the Raymond facility.
