PHILBROOKLISBON

Police arrested a man Thursday in connection with the May 29 armed robbery of a Lisbon Falls convenience store.

After a monthlong investigation, Lisbon police Detective Bill Tapley said evidence at the scene of the Big Apple at 634 Lisbon St. linked Joshua Philbrook, 23, to the incident.

Philbrook was arrested without incident at his Main Street residence and charged with robbery. He was being held today on $2,500 cash bail at Androscoggin County Jail.

Police say Philbrook entered the Big Apple, “brandished a knife and demanded cash from the clerk,” at approximately 11:31 p.m. May 29.

The suspect left the store on foot with $97 in cash, police said. No one was hurt during the incident.

At the time, the suspect was described as a white male possibly in his early 20s, approximately 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 150 to 160 pounds, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. His face was covered by a gray mask.

Tapley said police linked Philbrook to the robbery through evidence found at the crime scene. Left behind was a T-shirt with holes cut into it used to disguise the robber’s face, which Tapley said a relative of Philbrook recognized as their clothing.

Philbrook has an Aug. 1 court date at Lewiston Superior Court. Tapley said the incident remains under investigation and further charges may be pending.
