BRUNSWICK
Brunswick police arrested a Topsham man at his home Saturday morning after an alleged assault reported on Mill Street that sent a man to a local hospital.
Police were called to 7 Mill St. at 10:22 a.m. where a man allegedly entered an apartment with a baseball bat and struck a 29-year-old male several times in the arms and legs, then left driving a Ford Explorer.
The victim was transported to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick. Hagan said he did not sustain any broken bones.
Police located the alleged suspect, Shawn Hinkley, 49, at his Topsham residence, and issued him a summons charging him with assault.
Hagan said Hinkley has an Aug. 20 court date at West Bath District Court.
The incident remains under investigation.
