A moose was cavorting around downtown Bath on Saturday morning, seen in background underneath a tree in this photo. Eventually, the animal found her way to the Kennebec River and swam toward Arrowsic, Bath police said. Lt. Robert Savary said a Winslow Court resident reported seeing the animal at around 9 a.m. Police had the moose in a stationary position and were about to tranquilize her when someone who had advice on how to handle animals approached them, and started her away. “It was manageable,” Savary said. “People got pretty excited about it, though.” Photo courtesy Christopher Carlton.
