HARPSWELL
Owners of land coveted by activists seeking public beach access at Cedar Beach cancelled a meeting this week where negotiations regarding an easement were scheduled to take place.
In response, the group advocating for the access said it may consider legal action against the property owners.
Board of Selectmen Chairwoman
Elinor Multer said an executive session scheduled for Tuesday with Jonathan and Rachel Aspatore was cancelled at the Aspatores’ request. The board was expected to negotiate terms of use for Robinhood Beach in exchange for the Aspatores allowing access.
Officials said the board could meet in executive session tonight to discuss the issue.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
