Until Aug. 16: The Summer Food Service Program in Gray-New Gloucester, sponsored by the MSAD 15 Food Services Department and supported by the Preble Street Maine Hunger Initiative in partnership with the Liberty Family Foundation, will be offering a free lunch to all kids and teens under the age of 18. There is no application and everyone is welcome. July 18-Aug. 4: Schoolhouse Arts Center will present “The Music Man” from July 18-Aug. 4. Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m.. Sunday performances are at 5 p.m. Tickets are $18 for adults and $16 for students and seniors. Saturday, July 20: The Windham High School Class of 1973 will hold its 40th class reunion starting at 6 p.m. It will be a casual gathering upstairs at Rustler’s Steak House on Route 302 in Windham. There will be a menu to order food from that night, so no advance reservation or admission fee is required. July 20: A benefit concert, “Life As I Hear It,” featuring pianist Daniel Strange with a special guest appearance by violinist Ashley Liberty, will be performed at the North Windham Union Church at 7 p.m. as part of the “Music with a Mission” series. Tickets sold at the door are $12 adults and $10 for students, children, and seniors. Box office opens at 6:15 p.m. and the doors will open at 6:30 p.m. A part of the proceeds will benefit The Windham Center Stage Theater. July 20: “Christmas in July” Church Fair, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Raymond Village Community Church, 27 Main Street (Route 121 just off Route 302). Christmas White Elephant tables, craft vendors, face painting, cookie walk, food table, beautiful faux flower arrangements, raffle and silent auction. Breakfast (muffins, breads, free coffee), lunch (lobster rolls or egg salad sandwiches, strawberry shortcake). Craftspeople and other vendors: tables are still available to rent. July 20: From 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. master-carver Norm Devonshire of Raymond will teach the basic techniques of woodcarving, including proper use of the knife, methods of cuts and sharpening, at Shaker Village in New Gloucester. Participants will complete a classic carving of a Scottie dog. Materials provided. Fee: $25. Shaker Village is located on Route 26 (707 Shaker Road). July 20: The Sebago Days parade starts at 10 a.m. at Wards Cove and finishes at Sebago Elementary School. A Civil War field band made up of two fifers and a drummer will join the Maine 3rd Co. A re-enactment soldiers as they march in the annual parade. After the parade the band will spend the morning meeting visitors at the Civil War encampment in the ball field behind the school. Encampment living history demonstrations will present typical examples of both men and women who were active during the Civil War. The day’s events will include infantry drill and musket firing demonstrations at 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. and infantry skirmish tactics at 2:30. A complete schedule will be available at the Historical Society Booth and will be posted on the grounds. The camp will close at 6:15 p.m.

Sunday, July 21: From noon until 2 p.m., Bridgton Veterinary Hospital will be hosting its 5th annual Pet Community Event at the hospital located at 213 Harrison Road. There will be more than 10 animal rescue groups featuring dogs, cats, horses, rodents, and various farm animals. There will also be representatives from Maine Friends of Animals, Maine Game Wardens, and Friends of Feral Felines. We are excited to have some artists in attendance this year including River Maggie Art and Small Dog Farm Paintings, as well as some local craftsmen and vendors of pet-related materials. Educational demonstrations from Saco Bay Hunting Retriever Club and Tailfeathers Upland Store in Raymond.

July 26-27: The First Congregational Church of Bridgton’s annual All Church Yard Sale will take place Friday and Saturday, July 26 and 27, from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. The sale will be held rain or shine and will be set up behind the church located at 33 South High Street in Bridgton.

Saturday, July 27: From 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Shaker Village in New Gloucester, learn to weave a classic “checkerboard” Shaker-style chair seat or stool seat using the same methods passed down by the Shakers since the 1800s. Antique and contemporary examples of Shaker chairs and Shaker chair seats will be examined. Participants need to bring a new or antique chair or footstool to reseat. Tuesday, July 30: An Arthritis & Agriculture Workshop, sponsored by the Arthritis Foundation, will be presented at Pineland Farms Conference Center, Room A, 15 Farm View Dr. in New Gloucester, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. All are welcome including farmers, gardeners, agricultural workers, healthcare professionals and the general public. Topics will include information on arthritis as a disease, treatment and pain management options, sources of joint stress and pain on the farm, operation changes, modifications to farm equipment and assistive technology tools. Aug. 3: From 6:30-8:30 p.m., the Naples Public Library will be holding a Paddle Art Auction at the Naples Country Club. Twenty-four paintings on ash canoe paddles and a landscape quilt will be available for bidding. Contributors include well-known local artists such as Andrea Dacko, Dick Anzelc, Linda Stearns, Regina Tremblay, Dan Edwards and Jeff Toole, to name a few.
