The Sagadahoc County Sheriff ’s Department responded to two crashes that resulted in two drivers going to jail, charged with driving while intoxicated.
Saturday at 7:41 p.m., police were called to a crash on Bay Point Road in Georgetown. A 1999 Subaru driven by Jason Rogenes, 42, of Georgetown, skidded out of control, left the roadway and hit trees, Lt. Calvin Temple said. Rogenes reportedly told the deputy he went off the road trying to avoid a deer. He sustained minor injuries, was given a field sobriety test and arrested, charged with operating under the influence. He was taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail and posted $400 bail.
Early Monday morning at 4:14 a.m., a crash on Route 127 in Arrowsic involved a 2006 Mercury Milan driven by Jason Sirois, 36, of Chelsea, who was traveling north, when he drifted off the road and struck a guardrail, Temple said. Sirois, who was outside the vehicle when the deputy arrived, said he was wearing his seat belt and trying to adjust a contact lens.
The car was a total loss, Temple said. Sirois, who was not injured, was administered a field sobriety test and charged with operating under the influence. He was medically cleared by Bath Rescue, arrested and transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail.
