BOWDOINHAM — Mary Ellen Dyer, 84, died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Brentwood Rehabilitation Center in Yarmouth.

She was born in Boston, MA, August 2, 1928, the daughter of Earl and Martha Hatek Fairbanks and attended school in Hyde Park.

She married Raymond W. Dyer Sr., in Dedham, MA, on April 27, 1946. They lived in Walpole until moving here in 1951. They left for 8 years, living in Mississippi, returning in 1967. Mr. Dyer died January 7, 2007.

Mrs. Dyer was a member of the 2nd Baptist Church in Bowdoinham, where she served in the Ladies Missionary Group and was active in the Extension Group of Bowdoinham, cooking, sewing, crocheting, knitting mittens for children, quilting and working on the Santa Fund. She also enjoyed the ladies craft group, singing in the choir and spending time with her family.

She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Amanda Dyer; two sisters, Arline Berry and Edith Gavin, and a daughterin law, Mae Helen Dyer.

Mrs. Dyer is survived by four sons, Raymond W. Dyer Jr. and his wife, Juanita of Topsham, Bruce Dyer of Lucedale, MI, Ralph Dyer and his wife, Mary Kay of Bowdoinham and Kenneth Dyer and his wife, Lois of Bowdoinham; two daughters, Jean Reed of Monroe, NC and Cheryl LeTourneau and her husband Donnie of Bowdoin; a brother-inlaw, Donald Dyer and his wife Elsie of Spofford, NH; 15 grandchildren, 25 greatgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to visit from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Bay View Cemetery, Bowdoinham.
