Rosemont Produce event to showcase Lebanese fare

Chafic Maalouf of The Olive Harvest will be the featured guest Sunday at “Heart of the Mediterranean: Rosemont Celebrates the Food and Wine of North Lebanon.”

Maalouf will showcase his family’s traditional olive oils and other products from Koura in northern Lebanon.

Lebanese wines from Chateau Ksara and Clos St. Thomas will be served with the dinner. Entertainment will include traditional live belly dancing by Nasreen.

The event will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rosemont Produce Co., 5 Commercial St.

State of Maine Cheese Co. to mark 30th anniversary

The State of Maine Cheese Co. will celebrate its 30th anniversary Saturday with a daylong event that includes a special farmers market and a tasting of Maine-made products.

The celebration will be held at the Rockport Marketplace, located on Route 1, and will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

At 11 a.m., there will be short speeches by Walt Whitcomb, Maine’s commissioner of agriculture, conservation and forestry, and John Piotti, executive director of the Maine Farmland Trust.

Cathe Morrill, owner of State of Maine Cheese Co., said the event is not just a celebration of her company’s birthday but also of all the progress made by Maine agriculture in recent years.

Morrill said she will donate 10 percent of all sales from the day to the Maine Farmland Trust.

Cellardoor Winery hosting four-course dinner Monday

Cellardoor Winery will host an Artist Series Dinner from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the winery’s farmhouse in Linconville.

The featured artist will be Judy Taylor from The Gallery at Somes Sound.

The evening will include wine, hors d’oeuvres and a four-course dinner prepared by Lani Stiles of Megunticook Market.

The cost is $85 per person, and reservations are required. Call 763-4478.
