PORTLAND (AP) — Maine’s highest court has upheld a former state trooper’s convictions for sexually touching a young girl.

Gregory Vrooman of Nobleboro was convicted last summer on 12 counts of unlawful sexual contact, unlawful sexual touching and assault involving a 12-year-old girl. He was later sentenced to 21 months in prison.

In his appeal, Vrooman argued that jurors shouldn’t have been told he watched pornography because it was unrelated to the charges. He also challenged the judge’s denial of his motion seeking to suppress evidence.
