BOWDOINHAM
Friends of Merrymeeting Bay is sponsoring a hands-on walk Saturday of the Bowdoinham Game Management Area where walkers will learn how to find and identify a variety of wild edibles.
The management area is on Wildes Road on the shores of Merrymeeting Bay. The walk, 9 to 11 a.m., will be led by Jason Wright.
“As we continue to catapult into expanding and increasing use of technology, it is easy to lose touch with the Earth and that which nature provides,” the event announcement states.
Wright has most recently worked with the Maine Primitive Skills School, a wilderness survival school located on 23 wooded acres in Augusta. The school “among other things, reacquaints participants with the world and wild around them in an intense, intimate and primitive way.”
The Friends of Merrymeeting Bay Outside 2013! Series takes place monthly from July to the end of September.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
