AUGUSTA (AP) — A Republican candidate for the Maine Senate says there’s no need to apologize for an online video in which he dances around in Brazilian-style swim trunks.
Eric Brakey, an actor who used to live in New York, said Tuesday that if Ronald Reagan can become president after the movie “Bedtime with Bonzo,” voters won’t mind his dance moves.
Michael Hein, former office manager of the Christian Civic League of Maine, criticized
Brakey’s claim of “family values” in an email to Brakey’s church.
Brakey, 24, announced he plans to run in 2014 to represent Senate District 15, which includes Auburn, New Gloucester and Poland.
