For a decade, four local musicians have been bringing Beatles music to audiences throughout the Mid-coast area.
Unlike a true “tribute band,” the Apple Scruffs don’t wear wigs or special costumes to try to look like the original. Instead it is the joy of playing the music itself that becomes “tribute.”
Mark Barter (Boothbay) plays lead guitar, Mark Brassard (Woolwich) is on drums, Mark McNeil (West Bath) plays bass and keyboard and Ron Mosher (Bath), the newest member, joining in 2009, plays rhythm guitar and harmonica. Unlike many tribute bands, no pre-recorded backing tracks are used. As a result, the songs, while accurately reproduced in format and sound, come across as new and fresh being played by a real band.
The Apple Scruffs concert will showcase songs that have been a deep a part of the American psyche for generations.
Tickets ($12 adults, $8 children) may be purchased by calling the box office 442-8455 or visiting www.chocolatechurcharts.org.
