Waban Special Olympians, from left, Bert Rancourt, Mark Beattie and Christopher Bachelder rest between events at the 2013 Games held recently in Orono. They were part of an 18-person team of Waban athletes who journeyed from Sanford to participate in the games, a parade and the ceremonial march of the athletes onto the track. Waban Projects, based in Sanford, is a community-based organization serving children and adults with developmental and other disabilities.
