To the Editor:

Don’t miss the opportunity to vote in the special election on Aug. 27 for Eloise Vitelli for state Senate District 19.

This is an important special election to fill the seat vacated by popular former Senate Majority Leader Seth Goodall. Both he and Seth Berry, majority leader of the State House of Representatives, have endorsed Eloise for Goodall’s seat.

During the last legislative session, Gov. Le Page vetoed a record 83 bills in the process of thwarting the interests of ordinary Mainers. This state cannot afford another Republican in the Senate to rubberstamp LePage’s anti- middle class agenda.

Vote for Eloise who, as director of program and policy at Women, Work and Community, created the New Ventures program which helped over 3,000 Mainers start successful small businesses. She has served as a member of the Maine Economic Growth Council.

In 2006, Eloise received the Entrepreneurial Excellence Award and in 1997, the Women’s Business Advocate of the year award and in 1995 was inducted into the Maine Women’s Hall of Fame.

As stated by Berry, “As state senator, she will be in a position to continue her focus on building and strengthening Maine’s economy.”

It takes just a few minutes to vote by absentee ballot at your town hall right now. But whether you vote right away or on Aug. 27, do not miss the opportunity to vote for candidate Eloise Vitelli in this important special election. Elections matter.
