School board members tonight are expected to consider numerous staff changes, discuss the final details of school openings on Sept. 3, and receive an update regarding the search for a new high school principal.

In addition to confirming the hiring of new Athletic Director Jeff Ramich, formerly of Leavitt High School in Turner, board members will act on the resignation of 10 staff or faculty members.

High school math teacher John Dumont retired at the end of 2012, but will be rehired as a part-time math teacher simply because “he was the most qualified applicant we had for that job,” Superintendent Paul Perzanoski said.

Additionally, former educational technician Marie Larson will be hired at the junior high school as a functional life skills teacher.

More than 200 applications were submitted for elementary teaching positions, but only about 30 percent were qualified, Perzanoski said.

Thirteen applications so far have been submitted for the high school principal’s position, vacant since then-principal Art Abelman resigned suddenly in May.

The deadline is Friday. Most have been from Maine applicants, a few from elsewhere in New England and two candidates from international schools overseas.

The board’s meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the second-floor municipal meeting room at Brunswick Station.
