BOWDOINHAM — More than 2,500 customers were out of power for about an hour today while crews worked to repair lines pulled down by a falling tree in Bowdoinham.
Gail Rice, spokeswoman for Central Maine Power Co., said a tree outside of the utility company’s right of way fell at the corner of River and Ridge roads in Bowdoinham at around 11:30 a.m., initially knocking power out for about 248 accounts.
Bowdoinham Fire Department removed the tree which was completely blocking the road, said Bowdoinham Fire Chief Arthur Frizzle.
In order to fix the damage, CMP cut power to the circuit running out of the Topsham substation at around noon, knocking out power for a total of about 2,528 customers in Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Richmond and Topsham. Power was back on by around 12:45 p.m., Rice said.
