RICHMOND
The Enterprise Grange No. 48 will host a forum Wednesday for the candidates seeking to fill the Senate District 19 vacancy Aug. 27.
The event starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Grange, 15 Alexander Reed Road, and is open to all residents of District 19, which includes all of Sagadahoc County and the town of Dresden.
The forum portion of the evening is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
According to the event announcement issued by the Grange, candidates planning to attend the forum include Republican Paula Benoit, Green Independent Daniel Stromgren and Democrat Eloise Vitelli.
Candidates will get six minutes each to talk before they take questions from the floor.
At about 6:45 p.m., the grange will present a Spirit of America Award to Steve Musica for helping to get Richmond’s library project under way on the Main Street property where the former library stood.
The Grange said in a news release it is a grassroots, nonpartisan organization that supports only policies, never political parties or candidates.
The Times Record will hold a forum from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, at the Topsham Municipal Building, 100 Main St.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
