BIDDEFORD — Adrien St. Pierre of Brunswick has landed a role in “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” opening today at City Theater.
“Spelling Bee” is a delightful musical comedy which follows six young people in the throes of puberty, who are overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, as they learn that winning isn’t everything and that losing doesn’t necessarily make you a loser.
At each performance, four audience volunteers are selected and invited on stage to participate in the Bee, making each performance unique.
St. Pierre of Brunswick appears as Marcy Park. She’ll be joined in the cast by Sarah Thurston, Paul Burnham, Kyle Dennis, Liz Kershenbaum, Owen White, Brie Roche, JP Furey and Sean Arsenault.
The play, recommended for ages 13 and older, runs Aug. 23 to Sept. 1, at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. on Sundays. For tickets visit www.citytheater.org.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
