ARROWSIC — Democratic state Senate candidate Eloise Vitelli received another endorsement from a union as members of Maine’s largest lobstermen’s union endorsed her in a statement released Friday.
The International Association of Machinists—Maine Lobstermen, Local 207 represents more than 500 lobstermen.
“I am so proud to have received the support of Maine lobstermen. They are iconic to the Maine brand, Maine economy and our state’s legacy,” Vitelli said. “They are the working men and women that I will stand up for when in Augusta.”
Vitelli has also earned endorsements and support from the Maine Education Association, the Maine State Employees Union—MSEASEIU Local 1989, the Maine AFL-CIO, and Bath Iron Works’ largest union— IAMAW Local 6.
Her Republican opponent — Paula Benoit — has the endorsement of U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and former U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe. The Green Independent candidate, Daniel Stromgren, of Topsham, has eschewed endorsements.
Vitelli is married to Bob Kalish, a former staff writer for The Times Record.
The election is Tuesday.
